Here are a few of the sites we are working on at present, to give you an idea of the different areas we are involved in. Please note that as these sites are still under construction, some areas may not work as expected!
Loughton Baptist ChurchThis one is really interesting. As an organisation where operational responsibility is spread among more than 30 people, Loughton Baptist Church faces similar problems to many medium-to-large enterprises. One particular issue concerns the building timetable - currently this is compiled in Microsoft Excel for easy printing later. The web team felt that putting the timetable on the web would be likely to bring big benefits, because there is no other route for getting hold of the information, apart from physically travelling to the church, where the timetable is pinned up on a noticeboard in the foyer.
The key was getting the information currently inside the Excel spreadsheet onto the website without causing anybody any extra work, because at Loughton, in common with most organisations, people don't have the time or the inclination to duplicate work if they can help it. We created a solution which allows the existing Excel file to be uploaded to the website, which then automatically creates an HTML table containing the relevant data (building times for this month, and the following two months). No extra work for the admin staff, and no need to force visitors to download a bloated Excel file, or requiring them to have Excel installed on their machine. The best possible solution!
DIY Flooring We are currently working on a WebShop which will sell laminate flooring online. Since flooring comes in different-sized packs, the site will include an innovative flooring calculator, where customers can input the dimensions of the room; the website will then calculate the number of packs needed.
